Sana Syed is the Executive Vice President of Community Outreach and Development for Nicholas Residential. Her responsibilities include community outreach, stewardship, non-profit partnerships, marketing, strategic and crisis communication, media relations and reputation management. She is focused on creating resources for residents, such as emergency assistance funds and workforce solutions so that tenants feel a sense of community and care. Sana is also drafting a housing model to use a small portion of inventory for subsidized housing for refugees and survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. She oversees the social footprint for the company in the communities that we serve.
Sana is also the founder of Kimiya International, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to raising awareness about humanitarian efforts through documentaries, photography and short stories.
Previously, Sana served as the director of the Public Information Office and spokesperson for the City of Dallas. She managed the city’s international responses to the first U.S. case of Ebola and the July 7 ambush on DPD officers and worked closely with the community and civic leaders. Sana began her career as a broadcast journalist and over a period of ten years worked as an assignment editor, producer, reporter and news anchor. She has worked at KDFW and KTVT in Dallas, KOKH in Oklahoma City, OK and WBRZ in Baton Rouge, LA.
Sana holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, a Master of Science in Journalism from TCU and a PhD in Public Policy from UTA.
